some updates

It's been a while since I've made any updates to my website or blog. Lo and behold I come back and change my entire layout. I've given up the web 1.0 feel and went full basic but functional which I think goes for the current state of my life. I want everything to have a purpose and while that's a work in progress for my every day life, starting in small places still feels like progress. Having silly gifs and things here and there was fun but I've accepted the main purpose I want for this website is to share thoughts and things from me--meaning just a lot of words.

I've been working on "decentralizing" my phone for the past few months. I fell into commonplace notebooks and naturally went into a rabbit hole and hating feeling like actual brainrot and my IQ dropping from doom scrolling. So I picked up journaling... along with a fountain pen collection. I picked up reading again and I've been reading off my kindle and a recently picked up xteink x4 (love this thing!)--so far I'm at 5 books. I bought a mp3 player last year and it really brought back the feeling of listening to whole albums and appreciating a full album instead of listening to curated playlists spotify throws at us, although I still think spotify's algorithm is way better than apple music for introducing new artists but I hate that with streaming you have to rely on data, wifi and if the artist chooses to keep their music up. What kind of bothered me was that I only knew the "viral" songs or singles and not what their whole album had to offer and I remember listening to an album and finding gems that weren't a single. Sometimes its just nice to listen to music and know its there at any time.

There's been some changes in my life the past few months. The most prominent being losing one of my dogs, Annabelle. She's been in my family for over 18 years and the past 6 years my boyfriend and I have been her sole carers. The entire process was difficult knowing there was a date coming where she wouldn't be coming home with us. I spent our last days holding her every chance I could and on her last day with us we drove her around and spent some time with my sister and her husband who would also be with us to say goodbye which felt right because my sister is the one who brought her home my sophomore year and has been one of the best things to happen in our family since.

My boyfriend and I went ring shopping with his sister and her boyfriend. We talked about going together in passing when we found out we were both talking next steps in our respective relationships and I saw she was looking at rings. We've both been together a similar amount of time so it's kind of fun to do something like that together. I don't think we expected to find "the ring" on the first runaround but I literally love mine. Now the surprise is just when and where.

But that's just some updates.
